Export Sales Highlights                                                                           

This summary is based on reports from exporters for the period July 12-18, 2019.

Wheat:  Net sales of 659,700 metric tons for 2019/2020 were up 90 percent from the previous week and 74 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were primary for Japan (143,300 MT), unknown destinations (105,300 MT), Mexico (91,300 MT, including decreases of 21,800 MT), Nigeria (62,800 MT, including decreases of 600 MT), and Thailand (60,000 MT).  Reductions were reported for Barbados (400 MT).  Exports of 496,100 MT were up 73 percent from the previous week, but down 6 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were primarily to Mexico (99,300 MT), Algeria (90,700 MT), the Philippines (66,000 MT), Malaysia (50,200 MT), and Nigeria (49,800 MT). 

Corn:  Net sales of 121,200 MT for 2018/2019 were down 39 percent from the previous week and 59 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were primarily for Japan (65,200 MT), Mexico (46,500 MT, including decreases of 11,900 MT), Colombia (32,200 MT, including 30,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Costa Rica (21,300 MT, including 12,000 MT switched from Guatemala, 4,000 MT switched from El Salvador, 3,000 MT switched from Honduras, 3,000 MT switched from Nicaragua, and decreases of 700 MT), and Taiwan (7,100 MT).  Reductions were primarily for unknown destinations (30,000 MT), Guatemala (12,000 MT), and Canada (8,400 MT).  For 2019/2020, net sales of 386,600 MT were primarily for Guatemala (147,900 MT), unknown destinations (112,900 MT), Mexico (70,900 MT), Japan (27,000 MT), and Honduras (17,500 MT).  Exports of 578,600 MT were down 15 percent from the previous week and 18 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were primarily to Japan (226,000 MT), Mexico (190,200 MT), Taiwan (70,000 MT), Colombia (39,400 MT), and Costa Rica (26,300 MT).

Optional Origin:  For 2018/2019, the current outstanding balance of 236,000 MT is for South Korea (121,000 MT), Taiwan (65,000 MT), and unknown destinations (50,000 MT).  For 2019/2020, new optional origin sales of 60,000 MT were reported for Israel.  The current outstanding balance of 468,600 MT is for South Korea (195,000 MT), unknown destinations (153,600 MT), and Israel (120,000 MT).

Barley:  No net sales for 2018/2019 were reported for the week.  Exports of 700 MT were primarily to Japan (400 MT).

Sorghum:  Net sales of 4,100 MT for 2018/2019 were reported for Mexico (3,100 MT), Japan (900 MT), and South Korea (100 MT).  Exports of 54,500 MT were up 5 percent from the previous week, but down 27 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were Mexico (43,600 MT) and Japan (10,900 MT).

Rice:  Net sales of 89,500 MT for 2018/2019 were up noticeably from the previous week and up 68 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for Haiti (60,900 MT), Mexico (18,800 MT), Canada (3,800 MT), Jordan (3,100 MT), and Honduras (700 MT).  For 2019/2020, total net sales of 200 MT were for the Netherlands.  Exports of 90,900 MT were up 56 percent from the previous week and 91 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were primarily to Japan (24,700 MT), Nicaragua (17,700 MT), Mexico (17,500 MT), Haiti (15,300 MT), and Panama (5,300 MT).

Export for Own Account:  For 2018/2019, the current exports for own account outstanding balance of 200 MT is for Canada.

Soybeans:  Net sales reductions of 78,200 MT for 2018/2019 resulting in increases for unknown destinations (57,700 MT), South Korea (26,000 MT, including 25,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Indonesia (21,800 MT, including decreases of 2,100 MT), Malaysia (7,200 MT), and Vietnam (2,400 MT), were more than offset by reductions for China (148,400 MT), Taiwan (27,200 MT), and Canada (18,400 MT).  For 2019/2020, net sales of 223,700 MT were primarily for Mexico (95,000 MT), Taiwan (87,700 MT), and unknown destinations (30,000 MT), were partially offset by reductions for Canada (1,400 MT).  Exports of 637,500 MT were down 30 percent from the previous week and 17 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were primarily to China (381,600 MT), Mexico (105,300 MT), Taiwan (25,300 MT), South Korea (25,000 MT), and Indonesia (22,300 MT).

Optional Origin: For 2019/2020, the current outstanding balance is 60,000 MT, all unknown destinations.

Exports for Own Account:  For 2018/2019, the current exports for own account outstanding balance is 41,800 MT, all Canada.

Soybean Cake and Meal:  Net sales of 87,300 MT were up 34 percent from the previous week and up noticeably from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were primarily for Vietnam (50,000 MT, switched from unknown destinations), Colombia (36,800 MT, including decreases of 11,500 MT), Mexico (25,300 MT, including decreases of 200 MT), Honduras (8,500 MT), and Canada (7,400 MT, including decreases of 2,300 MT).  Reductions were reported for unknown destinations (50,000 MT) and El Salvador (1,600 MT).  For 2019/2020, net sales of 140,000 MT were primarily for Guatemala (67,800 MT), the Philippines (43,300 MT), unknown destinations (15,000 MT), Costa Rica (11,600 MT), and Canada (2,300 MT).  Exports of 127,800 MT were down 34 percent from the previous week and 16 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were primarily to Mexico (45,400 MT), Canada (20,200 MT), Colombia (20,000 MT), Israel (9,400 MT), and Nicaragua (6,200 MT).

Soybean Oil:  Net sales of 3,600 MT for 2018/2019 were down 71 percent from the previous week and 76 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for Mexico (1,500 MT), South Korea (600 MT), Canada (500 MT), Guatemala (500 MT), and the Dominican Republic (500 MT).  For 2019/2020, net sales of 9,200 MT were for Guatemala (9,000 MT) and Canada (200 MT).  Exports of 2,900 MT were down 80 percent from the previous week and 79 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were primarily to Mexico (2,400 MT) and Canada (400 MT).

Cotton:  Net sales of 163,000 RB for 2018/2019 were up noticeably from the previous week and from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were primarily for Vietnam (91,400 RB, including decreases of 5,900 RB), India (28,900 RB, including decreases of 1,300 RB), Pakistan (9,500 RB), Turkey (7,900 RB), and Thailand (7,400 RB, including 1,600 RB switched from Japan and decreases of 1,600 RB).  Reductions were for Japan (2,300 RB).  For 2019/2020, net sales of 208,000 RB were primarily for Vietnam (133,300 RB), China (11,500 RB), Indonesia (10,700 RB), Bangladesh (10,500 RB), and Pakistan (7,600 RB).  Exports of 318,300 RB were up 3 percent from the previous week, but down 3 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Exports were primarily to Vietnam (79,500 RB), India (77,700 RB), Turkey (50,200 RB), Indonesia (18,400 RB), and China (16,200 RB).  Net sales reductions of Pima totaling 800 RB resulting in increases for Bahrain (300 RB), Switzerland (200 RB), and Greenland (100 RB), were more than offset by reductions for China (1,300 RB).  For 2019/2020, total net sales of 2,100 RB were reported for Peru.  Exports of 8,100 RB were down 30 percent from the previous week and 42 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were primarily to India (5,100 RB), Pakistan (1,400 RB), Thailand (1,000 RB), Peru (200 RB), and Greenland (100 RB).

Exports for Own account:  For 2018/2019, new exports for own account totaling 1,500 RB were to Vietnam.  Exports for own account totaling 1,200 RB to Indonesia were applied to new or outstanding sales.  The current exports for own account outstanding balance of 14,800 RB is for Indonesia (9,000 RB), China (2,300 RB), Vietnam (1,500 RB), South Korea (1,200 RB), Taiwan (500 RB), and Thailand (300 RB).

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 577,400 pieces reported for 2019 were up 54 percent from the previous week and 31 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide sales totaling 561,500 pieces were primarily for China (338,300 pieces, including decreases of 19,300 pieces), South Korea (145,300 pieces, including decreases of 5,800 pieces), Mexico (43,200 pieces, including decreases of 800 pieces), Indonesia (21,800 pieces, including decreases of 400 pieces), and Ethiopia (6,000 pieces).  Exports of 537,500 pieces reported for 2019 were up 65 percent from the previous week and 32 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide exports of 533,600 pieces were primarily to China (306,700 pieces), South Korea (93,100 pieces), Mexico (55,900 pieces), Thailand (46,600 pieces), and Indonesia (19,700 pieces).

Net sales of 149,000 wet blues for 2019 were up 20 percent from the previous week and 4 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were primarily for Vietnam (64,400 unsplit), Italy (44,500 unsplit), China (14,900 unsplit), Taiwan (11,100 unsplit), and Thailand (10,300 unsplit).  Exports of 182,500 wet blues for 2019 were up 84 percent from the previous week and 83 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Italy (76,200 unsplit), Vietnam (34,600 unsplit), China (24,000 unsplit and 1,900 grain splits), Thailand (15,800 unsplit and 1,400 grain splits), and Brazil (15,700 unsplit and 400 grain splits).  Net sales of splits totaling 348,900 pounds for 2019 were reported for Vietnam.  Exports of 280,000 pounds were to Vietnam.

Beef:  Net sales of 9,600 MT reported for 2019 were down 51 percent from the previous week and 49 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases primarily for South Korea (5,000 MT, including decreases of 500 MT), Japan (4,000 MT, including decreases of 300 MT), Canada (1,600 MT, including decreases of 100 MT), and Taiwan (1,300 MT, including decreases of 100 MT), were partially offset by reductions for Ethiopia (6,000 MT).  For 2020, total net sales of 100 MT were primarily for Japan.  Exports of 19,000 MT were up 6 percent from the previous week and 13 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Japan (6,600 MT), South Korea (5,400 MT), Taiwan (1,900 MT), Mexico (1,800 MT), and Canada (1,100 MT).

Pork:  Net sales of 20,900 MT reported for 2019 were down 4 percent from the previous week and 3 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were primarily for Mexico (11,700 MT), Japan (2,500 MT), Canada (1,900 MT), China (1,100 MT), and Colombia (900 MT).  For 2020, total net sales reductions of 100 MT were for Australia.  Exports of 26,900 MT were down 6 percent from the previous week, but unchanged from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were China (9,400 MT), Mexico (7,300 MT), Japan (3,000 MT), South Korea (1,600 MT), and Canada (1,600 MT).

Export Adjustment:  Accumulated exports of pork to Taiwan were adjusted down 8,221 MT for week ending July 11th.  The exports were reported in error and included in this week’s report.
